This STIRLING stone #2 is particularly mentioned in the publication by the Scottish Genealogical Society of Memorial inscriptions (#38).  Around 1750's the surname of SKIRLING (and variants) apparently became STIRLING.  This stone shows very clearly, in close-up below, that the letter had been 'corrected' to a 'T', presumably from a 'K'.

Closer detail of the stone.  The change to STIRLING can be seen in two places.  Also the symbols of death - the crossed bones; the skull; and the hourglass.  The surname STIRLING is shown as plural - the stone was erected by two brothers 'ANDROW AND PATRICK'.  Note too, how the lettering overflows from line to line, with a point separating each word.  Some letters are joined as one - look particularly at the left of the last row where the T, H, and E are made into one.  Note also, the spelling of Aged as AGDD. Close-up of the second spelling alteration.  Note also the word 'HE'.  The words 'LET TENANT IN' has been interpreted by the S.G.S. as 'late tenant in', however it might simply be that DAVID STIRLING had a let as a tenant.
